You are a Miracle of Light.
December 21st is the Winter Solstice, the day that marks the longest night of the year yet also signals the beginning of the lengthening of daylight.
Martin Luther King, Jr. said,

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

For thousands of years, cultures and religions across the world have celebrated this day. The lighting of candles has become a sacred ritual woven into many spiritual traditions; the lighting of the menorah in Judaism, the lighting of the advent wreath in Christianity, the Kinara of seven candles as part of Kwanza, and the Hindu celebration of light called Divali. The miracle of light you bring into this world is beautiful, unique, and necessary.
Allow the Divine Light that dwells within you to shine forth in joy, compassion, and love.
Marianne Williamson said, “As you let your own light shine, you unconsciously give others permission to do the same.” How do you accomplish that? You could start by taking time away from your usual routine to strengthen your Inner Light, which will bring more peace to your life and therefore to the world. Through a loving smile, kind act, wise word, we become representatives of the Divine Light and Love on earth. Let us learn to go forth and shine this new year, perhaps through a personal retreat at Western Spirit.
